PESHAWAR, Dec 22: The Inspector-General of Police, NWFP, Mohammad Raffat Pasha, directed the police authorities on Wednesday to expedite their efforts against proclaimed offenders and launch a planned action against them to improve the law and order situation in the province.

Presiding over a high-level meeting of the Mardan Range officers to review the law and order situation in the district, the police chief directed the participants to submit challans of all pending cases in the court so that early dispensation of justice could be ensured.

Mardan DIG Abdul Latif Gandapur, SPs Operation and SPs Investigation of Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi and Charsadda districts attended the meeting, says a press release.

The meeting reviewed overall law and order situation in Mardan Region during the last eleven months with reference to outlaws at large, arms and ammunition and drug trafficking.

The IGP asked the participants to keep close contact with the general public and get their help and cooperation against the criminals. They were further directed to put an effective halt to car-lifting and bust the gangs involved in this menace.

The performance of Investigation Wing was also reviewed in the meeting and the need for bringing further improvement in it was stressed. The IGP termed dissatisfactory the performance of Nowshera police and directed SP Nowshera to motivate the police against criminals in all fields and achieve desired results against the proclaimed offenders, recovery of arms and ammunition and arrest of narcotics traffickers.-APP
