KINGSTON (Jamaica), May 27: Former captain Viv Richards was appointed as the new chairman of the West Indies selection committee on Saturday.

The 50-year-old from Antigua replaced former Test wicketkeeper Mike Findlay and was given the post for a two-year period, the West Indies Cricket Board announced.

Former West Indies opener Gordon Greenidge also joined the three-member panel, in place of former fast bowler Joel Garner. The third member of the committee, Joey Carew, was given another term.—Reuters
