‘Raise tax exemption ceiling’

LAHORE, May 27: The Pakistan Workers’ Confederation has proposed raising the income tax exemption ceiling to Rs100,000 in the federal budget 2002-2003 and increasing the pays and allowances in accordance with the increase in the cost of living.

The proposals were submitted to the federal finance minister by PWC president Gul Rahman and secretary general Khurshid Ahmad.

The PWC leaders also called for measures to revive the 6,000 closed industrial units to supplement employment opportunities. They also called for the reviewing the decision to privatize the oil, gas and electricity companies.
