KARACHI, Dec 12: Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Shoaib Bukhari has pledged the provincial government's all support for the projects meant for the uplift of marginalized segments of society, particular womenfolk and children.
Speaking at a meeting held to review the current year's Unicef-sponsored public welfare projects for Sindh, he appreciated the Unicef assistance for provision of potable water and sanitation, besides primary education and maternal and child health care, to various areas of the province.
The minister said the assurance that the provincial government would fully cooperate in streamlining the projects, and added that more schemes were being initiated across the province in collaboration with the organization.
Chief Economist Mohammad Ali Khaskheli, said Sindh somehow could not succeed in achieving the required results fully owing to different reasons. He added, attempts were being made now for participatory approach and close coordination among all stakeholders to attain the set goals. Secretaries of education, social welfare, finance, local bodies, and planning & development provided detailed information about the projects. -APP
