KARACHI, Dec 12: The ideals and goals set for the nation and the country in 1947 have become completely blurred and our leadership, after Quaid-i-Azam and Quaid-i-Millat, both political and intellectual have failed to reaffirm and redesign the aspirations of the people.

These views were expressed by Sindh Ombudsman Yousuf Jamal while speaking to the faculty at Sindh Madressatul Islam on Saturday. "Intellectuals and politicians have not been able to point the way to the destined goals," he added.

He said that a confusion worse confounded was prevailing in the society affecting particularly the youth including students, who were also exposed to sense of insecurity on account of unchecked incidents of terrorism occurring both in urban and rural areas of the country.

Referring to the political situation around the globe and its effects, Yousaf Jamal said that an international, intra-nation and inter regional confusion was prevailing at the moment that had made the society direction less and deprived the younger generation and the students from path of struggle and endeavour for knowledge.

He emphasized that the alma maters were about the only places to reaffirm the ideals and give correct futuristic directions for the students in their life ahead. The teachers there were guiding the students for future life, he added.

The ombudsman suggested that concept of strategic planning for life should be included in the curriculum for students from secondary to postgraduate levels. Earlier welcoming the chief guest, SMI Principal Muhammad Ali Shaikh said that Mr Jamal was also an old student of the Madressah. He also presented Quaid-i-Azam insignia to the guest.
