SAHIWAL: Medical education at DHQ hospital

SAHIWAL, Dec 7: The Punjab government has approved a 'mini-medical college' at DHQ hospital, Sahiwal, where 50 students would get Part-II education.

According DHQ Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Javed Akhtar, the 450-bed DHQ hospital was under-staffed.

"The DHQ hospital needs 49 new doctors, including two specialists and six physicians, for the newly-established neuro surgery and CT scan units at a cost of Rs25 million," said Dr Javed Akhtar.

PO RELEASED: A woman along with her accomplices got her husband released from police custody near Chak 15/11-L on Monday. Reports said the Ghaziabad police arrested PO Iftikhar Khari and was on way back in a vehicle.

His wife Meena along with her accomplices Muhammad Siddique, Abdul Ghaffar, Abdul Satar, Sattar Sharif, Aslam, Ramzan and three unidentified men got Khari released from the police team. Police have registered a case under Sections 216-A, 353, 186, 148 and 149 of the PPC and arrested Meena, Siddique, Sattar and Ghaffar. Iftikhar Khari is still at large.

ROBBERIES: Robbers looted cash and other valuables amounting to Rs0.5 million in different incidents here on Tuesday. Dacoits rented a taxi (Karachi I-U-8392) and took away the vehicle from driver Manzoor near Sheikh Fazil on the Chichawatni-Burewala Road.

Five robbers took away a bike (SA-3045) from Abdul Razaq near Chak 64/4-R. A banker, Riaz, was deprived of his motorcycle. Near Qadirabad on the GT Road, three women were deprived of their ornaments and cash.
