PESHAWAR, Dec 1: Additional district and sessions judge Younas Khan on Tuesday convicted an accused of murder and sentenced him to death and fined him Rs150,000.
The court observed that the prosecution had fully proved its case against the accused and the evidence on record also support the prosecution's case.
The accused, Zar Muhammad alias Torae, was suspected of killing Ghaniur Rehman on May 10, 2003, in the jurisdiction of Urmer police station. He was charged under section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code. The public prosecutor stated that the accused was directly charged in the FIR.
JUVENILE ACQUITTED: The Peshawar High Court on Tuesday acquitted a juvenile offender who was earlier convicted by a juvenile court in a murder case. The appellant, Ishtiaq Khan son of Ameer Muhammad, was convicted by a juvenile court in Mardan, and was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and was ordered to pay Rs 2,70,000 as diyat money.
Ishtiaq was charged with killing his cousin Hamid Ali. They were having an old enmity. The deceased was killed in 2001 at Choora area, Mardan.
