ISLAMABAD, Oct 8: The Turkish authorities have agreed to provide 3,000 tons exceptional flexibility quota to Pakistan in 2004.

An official announcement, issued on Friday, said that as a result of these enhancement in quota, the Pakistani exporters could now export an additional amount of $10 million worth of fabrics in 2004 to Turkey.

Turkey signed the agreed minutes with Pakistan on October 4, 2004 and granted 3,000 tons exceptional flexibility quota in the following proportions: Cat 2A (Printed Fabrics) 2,000 tons and Cat 3 (Blended Fabrics) 1,000 tons

With this additional market access, Pakistani industry would be well placed to smoothly face the challenges of transition to post-quota era by enhancing their market share in Turkey.

The Ministry of Commerce vigorously took up the issue with Turkish authorities at the highest level to sign a new agreement with Turkey to provide 3,000 tons exceptional flexibility quota to Pakistan in 2004.
