KARACHI, Oct 5: Various programmes were organized at educational institutions in city on Tuesday to mark the Teachers' Day.
On one such occasion observed at the Government College Islamia Degree College for Women in Lines Area, the college principal, Rehana Anees, underlined the importance of teachers and the significant role they played in character building of societies, saying their respect was due on all.
She advised students to realize the importance of their teachers and get advantage of their experience and knowledge, while giving them due respect. Shamim Rashid, Shaista Ebad, Razia Sultan, Shahla, Safia and Nasreen also spoke.
SSUET: The Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology is contributing to building up the image of the teaching community in society. This was stated by Z.A. Nizami, Chancellor, SSUET on the occasion of the Teachers' Day ceremony held at the campus on Tuesday.
"We are actually inculcating the Aligarh spirit among students at our campus," Mr Nizami told the gathering. Earlier, students Haris Jamal and Aniqa Raees in their short speeches highlighted the importance of teachers and their contribution towards character building of the students. Dean, Faculty of Engineering Prof Dr Najib Siddiqui thanked the students for their noble gesture towards teachers.
SINDH MADRESSAH: Teachers are milestones of social and intellectual development of a society and their dignity is beyond any doubt, said the Principal of Sindh Madressatul Islam, Prof Mohammad Ali Shaikh, while addressing teachers on Tuesday to mark the World Teachers Day.
He said that teachers demanded respect and honour, as they were the future builders of the country. He said it was a teacher who played a vital role in society and contributed towards the process of development.
"Without a teacher, the country's social progress is impossible. He or she fights to remove ignorance," he commented. Shaikh said that teachers of the Sindh Madressah enjoyed respect and all rights. - PPI/APP
