KARACHI, Oct 5: The centralized admission committee for first year classes of government colleges and higher secondary schools on Tuesday released the placement lists of 15,064 male students.
According to admission statistics, as many as 17,140 seats were available for boys in the commerce faculty in 48 colleges and two higher secondary schools, against which 15,064 students having secured 45 per cent or more marks in the matriculation or equivalent examinations have been placed.
The seats will remain vacant as E-graders would not be given admission in commerce faculty. According to EDO (Higher Secondary), Prof. Rais Alvi, the remaining applicants would be given admission in humanities classes.
Referring to the closing marks of the college admission lists, he observed that considerable competition was seen among applicants for some colleges. A total of 124 A-1 graders, 1,175 A graders, 3,333 B graders, 6,533 C graders, 3,870 D graders and 3,870 D graders were placed for admissions, which should be finalized within seven days.
A total of 2,876 students of different faculties have been readjusted so far on their request. In all, 2,017 men and 1,860 women had submitted claims forms for change of their placement.
A maximum of 805 students have been placed for admission to Islamia Arts/Commerce College (Morning), followed by 714 at S M Arts/Commerce College (evening) and 712 at Premier College (morning). The names of educational institutions with opening and closing marks of placement lists are as follows:
