KARACHI, Sept 23: The city government's land record office dealing in KDA Scheme No-36 (Gulistan-i-Jauhar) was unsealed on Thursday, six months after being sealed off for an inquiry into the allegations of corruption.

City Nazim Niamatullah Khan had formed a committee for the inquiry into the alleged mal practices by certain officials who were accused of carving out plots, especially amenity plots, illegally.

Besides sealing off the office, the nazim had ordered a halt to all sorts of transactions, including sale, purchase, transfer and approval of building plans, involving a plot in the Gulistan-i-Jauhar scheme.

Though the ban on such transactions had been lifted a couple of months back, sellers and buyers of the plots in the Scheme 36 were still facing a lot of problems in getting their property cases processed.

Sources in the city government told Dawn that the inquiry into the affair had also entered its final stage. A comprehensive report is now under preparation and the same would hopefully be submitted to the city nazim in a couple of weeks, said the sources, adding that at present, inventory of Scheme-36 plots was being updated.

The inquiry committee comprised chairman of the city government's land committee Gohar-ul-Islam, DO-II (land management) Ather Hussain, DDO (coordination) Amir Jan and DO (land management) Najamuddin Sikandar.
