KARACHI, Sept 16: Provincial minister for Revenue and Political Affairs Imtiaz Shaikh, through a letter on Thursday, suggested to the Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim to convene General Council meeting of the Muslim League , Sindh, so that a resolution could be passed asking President Gen Pervez Musharraf to retain his army uniform.

In the letter, signed on Sept 15, Mr Shaikh referred to the resolutions passed by the Punjab Assembly and the PML, Punjab, and stated that a similar resolution had also been filed in Balochistan Assembly by the relevant chapter of the PML.

The PML members in the National Assembly and the Senate had also supported the president for remaining in the uniform, he added. "Since the matter is of very important nature, that would leave an impact on consistency of present policies, economic conditions of the country etc, such resolutions favouring the president in uniform should also be passed by PML, Sindh, in its general council session, and by the coalition partners in the Sindh Assembly," he observed.

Mr Shaikh requested Dr Rahim to summon the party session at the earliest for this purpose, and also make arrangements for the same at the Sindh Assembly, that is scheduled to meet on Saturday, Sept 18. -PPI
