KARACHI, Sept 15: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday signed sponsorship contracts worth just over Rs17 million for the forthcoming triangular tournament and the two-Test series against Sri Lanka.

According to a press statement of the PCB, Paktel was awarded the title sponsorship for a sum of Rs9.4 million while Super Asia bagged the co-sponsorship for Rs3 million. In-stadia advertisements were given to Trans media Advertising for Rs4.705 million.

The PCB had invited bids for the series last month. As expected, PCB's earnings from various marketing deals were certain to be limited as compared to the high-profile home series against India earlier this year when the cricket board netted a record US$21 million (roughly over Rs120 crore) from various sponsors and TV rights. The title sponsorship of that series alone fetched $4,000,000 and the co-sponsor $1,491,000.

The seven-match triangular one-day tournament, featuring Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, will be played from Sept 30 to Oct 16. The first Test of the Pakistan-Sri Lanka gets under way from Oct 20 at Faisalabad. Karachi will host the final Test from Oct 28 to Nov 1.
