KARACHI, May 24: The Traffic Police has announced alternate traffic routes due to Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions being taken out on Saturday.
According to an official handout issued here, the Ahl-i-Sunnat-ul-Jamaat will take out a large number of processions from all parts of the city. Some processions will remain confined to their local limits, whereas a few of them will reach Kakri Ground through different routes and merge into the main procession there.
The main procession of Eid Milad-un-Nabi will start from Kakri Ground and after passing through Mohabbat Khan Road, Shaheed Masjid, Kharadar, Bombay Bazar, Market Road, Boulton Market, M.A. Jinnah Road and Old Exhibition, disperse at Nishtar Park.
As soon as the procession assembles at Kakri Ground, all vehicular traffic coming from Lea Market, Agra Taj Colony, Crane Chowrangi, G. Allana Road and Kharadar will not be allowed to proceed towards Kakri Ground and diverted on alternate routes.
All vehicular traffic coming from Keamari via Jinnah Bridge will not be allowed to come towards Merewether Tower and diverted on alternate routes from Jinnah Bridge.
All roads, streets, lanes falling on both sides of the above routes of the procession will be closed for all kinds of vehicular traffic and the same will be sealed.
All vehicular traffic shall be diverted on alternate roads, streets and lanes from the following points: Merewether Tower up to Old Exhibition to Nishtar Park via junction of I.I. Chundrigar Road/Mumtaz Hussain Road; junction of I.I Chundrigar Road/Mir Karam Ali Talpur Road; junction of Shah Liaquat/Mir Karam Ali Talpur Road; junction of Sharea Liaquat/Aiwan-i-Tijarat Road; junction of Shah Liaquat/Sarai Road; junction of Shah Liaquat/Altaf Hussain Road; junction of Shah Liaquat Hussain/Ali Afridi Road; junction of Shah Liaquat/Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road; junction of Shah Liaquat/Baba-i-Urdu Road; junction of Shah Liaquat/Muslim Qasim Road; junction of Shah Liaquat/Court Road; junction of Shah Liaquat leading towards High Court Road; junction of Shah Liaquat/Sarmad Road; junction of Shah Liaquat/A.H. Road; all other streets and lanes falling on Shah Liaquat; junction of Preedy Street/Dr Daud Pota Road; junction of Preedy Street/Preedy PS Road; junction of A.H. Road opposite Ghafoor Chambers; junction of Agha Khan Road leading towards Karachi Grammar School; junction of Dr Daud Pota Road leading towards Mansfield Street; junction of Mansfield Street leading towards Lines Area; all roads, streets of Lines Area from Mansfield Street up to Old Exhibition; junction of Sharea Quaideen link road to Mazar-i-Quaid; junction of link road behind Mazar/Dadabhoy Noorani Road; intersection opposite Islamia College; junction of Altaf Hussain Road leading towards Old Market City Court near Denso Hall; junction of Dr Tahir Saifuddin Road leading towards Hussain Ali Afridi Road (backside of Sessions Court); junction of Hassan Ali Afridi Road/Chand Bibi Road; junction of Chand Bibi Road/Baba-i-Urdu Road; junction of NJV School Road/M.A. Jinnah Road; junction of Jameela Street leading towards Anklesaria Road; junction of Agha Khan Road/Coast Guard Road; junction of Soldier Bazaar/Kiyani Road opposite Coast Guards H.Q.; junction of Soldier Bazaar/Mansfield Street; all roads, lanes and streets on Soldier Bazaar, Bahaduryar Jang Road from Agha Khan Road up to Gurumandir Road; all inter streets, roads, lanes from Altaf Hussain Road up to Anklesaria Hospital; all vehicular traffic coming from University Road via New M.A. Jinnah Road shall not be allowed to proceed towards M.A. Jinnah Road from Islamia College roundabout and the junction of New M.A. Jinnah Road/link road behind Mazar-i-Quaid and will be diverted on alternate routes.
All vehicular traffic approaching Gurumandir from Jamshed Road, Jehangir Road, Business Recorder Road will not be allowed to proceed towards Old Exhibition and Nishtar Road via M.A. Jinnah Road and Bahaduryar Jang Road, and diverted on alternate routes.
All lanes, roads, streets on Bahaduryar Jang Road from Gurumandir up to Mansfield Street meant for Nishtar Park shall be sealed for vehicular traffic.
Vehicular traffic coming from Sharea Quaideen will not be allowed to proceed towards Old Exhibition and will be diverted from the junction of the link road behind Mazar-i-Quaid.
Motorists are requested not to adopt the route of the procession and advised to use alternate routes.—PPI
