PESHAWAR: Magistrates' functions divided

PESHAWAR, Sept 7: District and Sessions Judge Hayat Ali Shah has divided the functions of eight judicial magistrates in Peshawar to improve the criminal justice system and facilitate litigants in getting speedy justice.

According to an order issued by the sessions judge on Monday, five judicial magistrates would deal with urgent nature cases, including bails, whereas the rest would conduct trial in criminal cases.

The magistrates who would deal with urgent nature matters are: Aftab Afridi, Haq Nawaz Swathi, Rashid Rauf Swathi, Shoukat Ahmad Khan and Asghar Shah Khilji. Magistrates Shoaib Khan, Shah Hussain and Sheikh Afzal Ahmad would conduct trials in criminal cases, said the order.
