KARACHI, Aug 27: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited has decided to change the prefix of Gulistan-i-Jauhar and Gulzar-i-Hijri exchanges to provide latest facilities to the people from Sept 1.

After the change of prefix, telephone numbers, which started earlier with 801, 802 and 803, will start with 401, 402 and 403 respectively, while the numbers currently starting with 811, 812 and 813 will start with 461, 462 and 463.

The phone numbers of Gulzar-i-Hijri telephone exchange, which started earlier with 814 and 815, will start with 464 and 465 respectively from Sept 1. The PTCL subscribers will enjoy both old and new prefix dialling facility for a short period.

BREAKDOWN: Over 1,000 lines of Nazimabad phone exchange were affected due to a cable fault in Gulbahar and Golimar exchange. The breakdown occurred during the widening of a road in Liaquatabad Town.

A PTCL spokesman, N. H. Mangrio, said that the repair work was being carried out round-the-clock to restore the cables and hoped that the work would be completed in 48 hours. -APP/PPI
