ISLAMABAD, Aug 27: The Ambassador of Mongolia, L. Amarsanaa said on Friday that his country was interested in joint venture with Pakistan in carpet industry. He was talking to commerce secretary, Tasneem Noorani here on Friday. Mr Amarsanaa is based in Beijing and is accredited to Pakistan.
The Mongolian envoy said that they had the raw material used in carpet industry and wanted skill and technology from Pakistan. He also expressed his interest in importing dry fruit and high technology from Pakistan.
Secretary, Commerce agreed to this proposal and said that his ministry would involve Carpet Manufacturers Association of Pakistan in this venture. The ambassador also showed his interest in training of his people in various training institutes of Pakistan.
During the meeting, both the sides agreed to enhance the level of economic and trade co-operation between the two countries. Mr Noorani said that Pakistan had a competitive position in textile industry in the region and Mongolia could explore the possibility of importing textile products from Pakistan.
