LAHORE, Aug 24: The Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency will examine the feasibility of introducing metered parking on service roads along the Shahrah-i-Quaid-i-Azam stretch between the Faisal Square and the GPO Chowk.

Service roads along the stretch have been chosen for the study because these have proper entries and exits and can be utilized for metered parking with minimum expenditure.

Only two meters - one at the entry and the other at the exit are required for introducing metered parking. Motorists can be issued parking cards on entry and charged at the exit point in accordance with the parking time.

District Nazim Mian Amer has recently announced introduction of the metered parking system in the city for ensuring utilizaation of the limited parking spaces in shopping centres by a maximum number of motor vehicles by discouraging the tendency of day-long parking. Introduction of metered parking would also increase the City District government revenue from the parking stands.
