KARACHI, Aug 16: A rice trader was shot dead by unknown persons in Soldier Bazaar on Saturday night. Police said Abdul Sattar was going to his apartment when unknown persons on a motorcycle shot him and escaped from the spot.
He was taken to a private hospital where he died during treatment on Sunday. Police are investigating the case and suspected some personal or business interest as a possible motive behind the killing.
POLICEMAN'S WIFE: A woman was shot dead by her husband, a police constable, at police quarters in Quaidabad over a petty dispute on Saturday night. Ikram, posted at Ibrahim Hydri, shot at his wife Naheed Akhtar, 30 with his official pistol.
She suffered a bullet wound in her neck and died of profused bleeding before she could be taken to hospital. Police said constable Ikram, escaped following the incident. A duty officer of the Quaidabad police said on Monday that the suspect is still absconding.
KILLED: A young man was shot dead by unknown persons in Surjani late on Sunday night. Police said Mohammad Hasan, 35, was found with a bullet wound in his neck outside his house in Surjani town. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was shifted to Abbasi Hospital for postmortem.
BODY FOUND: Body of a young man was recovered from Gulistan-i-Jauhar Saturday night. The victim was later identified as Kamran Raza, 30, a resident of Soldier Bazaar. Police said it seems that the victim was shot dead somewhere else and his body was dumped in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.
According to his brother, Imran Raza, who lodged an FIR against unknown persons, Kamran was jobless for the past one month. According to the family, he had gone outside on a motorcycle on the evening of Aug 14, and later in the night they got the information about his killing. Police said the victim had two cellular phones which were found missing.
INJURED: An elderly man and his young daughter were wounded when bandits shot at them during a dacoity in Saeedabad on Monday morning. Police said Sheraz, 60, suffered a bullet wound in his head while his 20-year old daughter Mirza, suffered a bullet wound in her abdomen.
The three armed suspects managed to escape with jewellry and cash of rupees 15,000. Area people managed to get hold of one of the suspects identified as Mukhtar Ali. He was severely beaten up by the people. Later, the police shifted him to Civil Hospital for treatment. Both the father and daughter were also admitted to the hospital where condition of Sheraz was stated to be serious.
