KARACHI: PSF, IJT clash at law college

KARACHI, Aug 11: Fifty-two students were arrested following a clash between two student organizations at the S. M. Law College here on Wednesday. According to police, the college administration had reported disturbances and sought help restore peace.

The SHO of Preedy police station said that police moved in and picked up those involved in violence. However, he added, some of them managed to escape.

Giving details, the police said that a group of students belonging to the Pukhtoon Students Federation (PSF) held a meeting with the principal in his office.

Trouble started when some students tried to disrupt the meeting. The PSF alleged that the trouble-makers belonged to the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT).

Police said that a clash between the two sides followed. SHO Shaukat Raza told Dawn that 52 students - 47 belonging to the PSF and five to the IJT - were arrested to bring the situation under control.
