KARACHI, Aug 11: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan has said that after cooperation between Sindh Police and CPLC in their efforts to control crime and adopt preventive measures their participation towards police welfare is also highly appreciated.
Inaugurating the vaccination of police jawans against Hepatitis B at Police Hospital, the Governor announced a donation of 20,000 vaccines on his behalf for the programme. He observed that to ensure the usefulness of any organization, welfare of personnel, particularly in health care is very important.
Welcoming CPLC's focus in this direction, the Governor hoped that philanthropists would also cooperate in this respect. Encouraging the police welfare programme initiated by DPO Hyderabad, A.D. Khawaja, the Governor announced a donation of Rs 1 lac for the same and also announced to hand over police hospital under the administration of Police department.
He hoped that this hospital will prove to be a model while taking care of health needs of the police. He stressed the need for establishment of a Trauma Centre also in this hospital for which, he said, Sindh Government will extend full cooperation.
The provincial Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi, IG Police Syed Kamal Shah, CPLC Chief Sharfuddin Memon also addressed the ceremony which was largely attended, among others, by Advisor Local Government Waseem Akhtar, senior police officials, citizens and police jawans.
Dr Ishratul Ibad, particularly stressed on better attitude of police officers towards the people upto the SHO's level and said that instead of assuming a bureaucratic posture, they should adopt the attitude of cooperation and service to people.
He called for better cooperation and coordination between police, public representatives and people and said that an improvement in the society can be brought about by working like a team.
The Governor said that in order to attain a respectful and dignified position among the comity of world nations, our journey towards right direction has started and this mission will prove successful.
He said better results of public-private partnership are coming out and government is gradually changing the role as a regulator to that of facilitator. On the occasion, the Governor announced for the improvement of Police Training Center Saeedabad's parade ground and reward for police force which carried out anti-dacoit operation in Shah Belo. -APP
