KARACHI: Kidnapping bid foiled

KARACHI, Aug 6: An attempt of kidnapping for ransom was foiled by prompt police action resulting in the safe recovery of two girls in Saddar on Friday.

According to police, Mukhtar Ali accompanied by his daughter Itrat Fatima, 9, picked up his younger daughter Sabahat Fatima, 5, from Habib Girls School on Garden Road.

On way back to his Khayaban-i-Shaheen residence in Defence, Mr Mukhtar stopped at Cafe Mubarak located in front of the Anklesaria Hospital to purchase something, leaving his two daughters in the car. When he stepped out of the cafe he found the car missing. He immediately called at police helpline "15" and narrated the incident.

After a few minutes, the car was spotted near Regal Chowk by the SHO of Preedy Police Station, Shaukat Raza. Seeing the police mobile, the suspect escaped leaving the car behind and the girls were safely recovered.

SHO Shaukat Raza told Dawn that the girls were shown the photographs of the crime record data. They recognized the suspect, Sarfraz, resident of Pak Colony.
