HYDERABAD, Oct 27: Former Sindh governor Mamnoon Hussain said that Pakistan should have delayed its decision of announcing its all out support to America in its war against Afghanistan, and added why the United States had not made public the proofs of Osama’s involvement in the terrorist attacks against the US on Sept 11.
Talking to a group of newsmen at the residence of A. Bux Magsi, a PML leader, on Saturday evening, he said that it would have been better that the whole operation against Afghanistan was supervised under the aegis of the United Nations.
He said that the USA must ascertain the main causes of terrorism all over the world.
He observed that the USA should have considered the option of the Taliban that Osama bin Laden should be tried in a third neutral country by three judges, one each from Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
Had this option been given serious thought the present situation could have been averted, he added.
He said that Pakistan had supported the air strikes against Afghanistan and offered its airbases to the USA without taking into confidence the neighbouring Islamic countries. He maintained that Pakistan should have called for proof from America.
Mr Hussain pointed out that the involvement of some Jewish lobby and organizations could not be ruled out in the terrorist attacks.
He said that his party was supportive of the stand by religious parties in the prevailing situation while the PPP differed with the PML’s opinion.
He informed a meeting of the Central Working Committee of the PML in Peshawar on Oct 31 would discuss the current situation arising out of the attacks against Afghanistan.
The former governor said that the point of view of Nawabzada Nasrullah and the PML on the current situation was the same. He said that the PML would have given its suggestions if Gen Pervez Musharraf had invited it.
He said that war had been imposed on a war-ravaged Afghanistan.
