DHAKA, July 21: Over sixty groups of traders enforced a dawn-to-dusk strike on Wednesday in Dhaka, protesting against the government's recent tax measures, especially the ones relating to Value Added Tax.
Many shop owners held processions in old part of the Dhaka city demanding revision of the tax measures.
The Bangladesh council of traders' associations went ahead with their strike programme even after the government had withdrawn the authority of arrest vested upon tax officials, which was a major demand.
