LAHORE, July 20: Passengers of PK-758 returned home by a special relief plane on Tuesday, having been stranded in London for two days due to one of the engines of a PIA Boeing 747-300 developing a fault at Heathrow.
The plane carrying the passengers touched down at the Lahore International Airport at 8.50am, said a PIA spokesman. PIA Chairman Ahmad Saeed, who happened to be in the British capital, had instructed the PIA management to provide maximum facilities to the passengers and lodge them in hotels.
The spokesman said the Boeing was likely to be repaired by the end of the current week. Upon their arrival in Lahore, the passengers were served with light snacks including tea and juices.
PIA transport facility was made available to drop the passengers in the city centre. The airlines also arranged free transportation on the domestic network for the needy passengers. -APP
