KARACHI, July 20: A division bench of Sindh High Court, comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Gulzar Ahmed, on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a petition filed by Shabana Khan , challenging the transfer of her husband, MPA Younus Khan of Mohajir Qaumi Movement from Karachi jail to Jacobabad jail.
The court ordered that the matter may be fixed in August. In meantime, the petitioner was directed to file a copy of the FIR with the statement. The AAG was asked to place on record the comments on the petition.
Meanwhile, the same bench also put off hearing of a petition by Khatoon Begum against the shifting of her son Mustafa Zahid, an activist of the MQM from Karachi to Hyderabad jail with the above directions.
RELEASE OF VEHICLE: A division bench of Sindh High Court, comprising Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Gulzar Ahmed, on Tuesday issued notice to the deputy attorney general and Collector of Customs (Preventive) on a petition filed by a transporter, Bahawal Khan, seeking release of his vehicle.
According to the petitioner, his public transport bus was seized by the customs in 2003 as contraband items were recovered from some passengers and a fine was imposed. He stated that despite payment of penalty, the vehicle was not being released by the respondents. The court was prayed to direct the respondents to release the vehicle. -PPI
