KHAAR, July 20: A lashkar of the Safi tribesmen of the Mohmand Agency attacked a village near Nawagai in the Bajaur Agency and demolished four houses to protest against the alleged kidnapping of a Safi tribal elder's son by an elder of Bajaur.
The political administration of Mohmand Agency failed to stop the tribesmen from entering the Bajaur Agency and demolishing the houses. Hundreds of personnel of the Mohmand levy force and Mohmand Rifles remained silent.
Maliks and tribesmen of the Bajaur Agency have described the action as uncalled for. The Bajaur tribal elder is accused of kidnapping the young son of a Mohmand tribal elder, Malik Gul Rehman, from the Nawagai bazar a few days ago.
The administration had also arrested five people, including the tribal elder. The angry tribesmen of Nawagai also attacked a hotel of the tribal Malik and demolished the building.
A jirga comprising elders of the Bajaur Agency continued efforts to recover the son of Malik Rehman. However, the Safi tribe expressed dissatisfaction over the jirga's efforts and raised a 600-strong lashkar to take action against the accused.
