DERA GHAZI KHAN, May 22: The Darama police on the SSP’s orders on Wednesday registered a case against an accused 13 days after his arrest to save their skin against illegal detention.
Reports said one Shafqat Yaseen lodged a complaint with police that Ghulam Husain had kidnapped his younger brother and left him unconscious outside his house.
In reaction, Husain allegedly offered illegal gratification to police to arrest Yaseen in a fake theft case.
The police detained the accused for 13 days, tortured him and demanded Rs8,000 for his release.
The relatives of the victim sought the help of press which met the SSP. On the directives of the SSP, the police registered a theft case on the 14th day to save their skin.
The relatives of the victim have lodged an application with police high-ups, demanding an inquiry against the policemen involved in illegal detention of the accused.

Reports said dozens of protesters blocked rail track in Shadan Lond on Nov 9 in the wake of country-wide strike called by the Afghan Defence Council over killing of four youngsters by police firing.
The railways and Kala police registered case against 2,500 protesters. Of those, some 21 people had been nominated under sections 353, 427, 148, 149, 128, 120, 126, 127, 337 and 364, (under railways act) and 395, 324, 353, 436, 337ai, 337fi, 337ii and 337lii (under Pakistan Penal Code).
