FAISALABAD, May 22: Pakistan Peoples Party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto has invited local and central leaders to London on June 2 to discuss present political situation and finalize the list of candidates for the general elections.
This was claimed by PPP Divisional Coordinator and former MPA Raja Riaz Ahmed while talking to newsmen here on Wednesday.
Recommended by party leaders, he said, that list of interested candidates had already been prepared which would be presented to the chairperson for approval.
He said the Faisalabad delegation would comprise Punjab PPP secretary-general Aftab Ahmed Khan, divisional coordinator Raja Riaz Ahmed, district president Chaudhry Muhammad Ilyas and city president Imran Murtaza Khan.
Former federal ministers and PPP leaders — Khalid Ahmed Khan Kharal and Faisal Saleh Hayat would also attend the London meeting, he said.
Raja Riaz said working of party workers for the return of the chairperson would also be discussed during the meeting, adding that she would come back and lead the party in general elections.
He claimed the PPP would clean sweep the next general elections with a thumping majority because its opponents had already been discarded by the masses during referendum and local bodies elections.
Paintings’ exhibition: An exhibition of paintings of eight eminent artists of the country was opened at the Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Auditorium on Wednesday.
The exhibition, organized by the Punjab Council of the Arts in collaboration with the Artists’ Association of Punjab, will continue till May 28.
Works of Ejazul Hassan, Guljee, Shahnawaz Zaidi, Bashir Ahmad, Colon David, Shahid Jaleel, Ghulam Mustafa and Sardar Ahmad Ali have been put on display.
District Nazim Chaudhry Zahid Nazir inaugurated the exhibition. DCO Tahir Hussain, Faisalabad Arts Council resident director Chaudhry Muhammad Asif, Punjab Arts Council director (fine arts) Ghulam Mustafa, Tehsil Municipal Officer Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, besides a large number of art lovers were also present.
