Seven die in held Kashmir

SRINAGAR, July 9: Seven people were killed in occupied Kashmir, as troops tightened security for an annual Hindu pilgrimage, police said on Friday.

Three freedom fighters and an Indian army officer died in an overnight clash near the town of Bandipora, 60 kilometres north of Srinagar, a police spokesman said.

He said the three belonged to the Al Fateh organization. Two more freedom fighters and a civilian were killed in three separate clashes between Indian troops and Mujahideen in Kupwara district in the north, and Doda and Poonch districts in south, he added. -AFP
