LAHORE, July 4: Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer will return to England on Wednesday for some coaching assignment there.

Woolmer, who replaced Javed Miandad as the national coach, joined the ongoing training camp for the Asia Cup on Saturday and will only stay for four days during which the announcement of the team is also likely, most probably on Wednesday.

The preparations of squad for one of the mega events are not satisfactory. The Asia Cup is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka from July16 and the coach will join the team there.

The camp, for which 26 probables were called, was set up at the Qadhaffi Stadium on June 28 but the coach reported the other day and that too for only four days. The number of probables is still to be completed as Pakistan main strike bowler Shoaib Akhtar is yet to report at camp.

His availability in the camp remained in doubt and it was only cleared on Saturday that he is joining on Monday. Meanwhile, paceman Umar Gul will be under consideration for selection as the reports of his MRI and bone-test are cleared.

"Yes, Umar's tests are clear and now the selectors will consider him for the Asia Cup," Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq said. Inzamam said that he had discussions with chief selector Wasim Bari and Woolmer on Sunday but it ended without taking any firm decision.

"The coach wants to personally watch each and every boy of the camp and currently he is not in a position to give genuine opinion about them," he said. In all, 25 probables are attending the camp.

Commenting on the long training session held from 9am to 4.30pm under the scorching heat on Sunday, the captain said that every coach had a different way of working and thus Woolmer had his own.
