PESHAWAR, July 2: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) have seized 2,800kg of hashish from a truck and arrested two persons who were attempting to smuggle the contraband abroad via Punjab, said a press release issued here on Friday.
The ANF formed a team after receiving a tip-off that an international gang would make a bid to smuggle narcotics from tribal areas to Punjab and then to a foreign destination.
At 5pm on Thursday, the ANF team stopped the truck (No PRC-6168) on Grand Trunk road in Sardar Ghari near here and recovered 2,800kg of hashish concealed under construction material, the press release said. Truck driver Imran Nazir, a resident of Jamrud in Khyber Agency and his accomplice, Mohammad Yousaf, a resident of Bara, were arrested.
KILLED: Three persons were killed in different incidents, police officials said on Friday. Noor Mohammad, son of Mohammad Ali, a resident of Sufaid Dehri, told Pishtakhara police on Friday that his brother, Hamidullah, had gone out for some work last night.
But after some time, it emerged that he had been shot dead by some unidentified people. In another incident, Nasrullah, a resident of Budhu Samarbagh, told Faqirabad police that he was working in the fields near his house when he heard the sound of gunfire.
He rushed to his house where he found Imran, a paying-guest, lying a pool of blood. He succumbed to his injuries before reaching hospital. A rickshaw driver, Inayatullah, was killed when he was hit by an speeding truck near Haji Camp on Friday.
