FPCCI team, CBR chief discuss anomalies

KARACHI, June 24: Central Board of Revenue Chairman Abdullah Yousuf has constituted a Dispute Resolution Committee at all departments and wings at the CBR in which a representative of the FPCCI and private sector will be a member.

He said the Dispute Resolution Committee/Anomaly Committee would discuss anomalies and implementation of budgetary measures. He asked the FPCCI to submit its report on anomalies latest by June 30 so that an appropriate action might be taken to redress the problems at the earliest.

Talking to an FPCCI delegation, headed by its vice-president Shaikh Maqbool Ahmed in Islamabad on Wednesday, the CBR chief assured his full cooperation in resolution of the problems, says an FPCCI press release. Maqbool Ahmed said that some areas required government's attention and consideration so that anomalies and irritants, arisen from the new budget, might be resolved.

The delegation apprised the CBR chief of major irritants of customs such as fiscal fraud (section 32A), no officer entrusted with any functions of any officer of the customs under section 6 shall interfere in any manner in the performance or discharge of any duty by an officer of the customs in places notified under section 9 of the Customs Act, amendment in section 25-A, the SROs issued which are providing concessionary cascading for imports of raw materials from zero to 10 per cent according to the type of industry deserving level of cascading as considered by the CBR, etc.
