ISLAMABAD, June 21: The armed forces on Monday began a month-long war game exercise, Sabit Qadam-III. The army, the navy and the air force are participating in the exercise.
According to an Inter-Services Public Relations press release, two sets of opposing plans were presented to President Gen Musharraf at the GHQ. In his capacity as the chief of the army staff, Gen Musharraf stayed the entire day at the army headquarters and interacted with the military's top brass.
The ISPR said Gen Musharraf presided over detailed deliberations on the planning exercise and expressed satisfaction on the operational preparedness of the armed forces to meet any threat posed to national security.
The war games, the ISPR said, were being conducted to evaluate the threat and update army's response in coordination with the PAF and the navy in the evolving geostrategic environment in the region.
