TOBA TEK SINGH, June 18: Police on Friday shot dead a resident of Chak 291-GB, Lahorianwala, who killed a woman and a teenager, besides injuring several people of his village in a rush of blood.

Reports said Muhammad Aslam alias Fauji had quarrelled with Ali Sher, a poor man of his village, two days ago. To exact revenge, he attacked Ali Sher with a rod early on Friday, injuring him grievously.

Later, he stood on the roof of his house and proclaimed that he would kill every villager. Accordingly, he targeted some of the people passing through his street, killing Tahira Yasmeen and 13-year-old Mazhar Husain. Ali Raza, Khalida Perveen and Kashif Ali were grievously wounded.

Meanwhile, DPO Saad Akhtar Bharwana sent a police team from Kamalia, Rajana and Toba Tek Singh police stations to handle the situation. The infuriated man also opened fire on the police and in a shootout that ensued, the man was shot dead while a policeman hurt.

The DPO said a rifle was used by the man, who seemed deranged and was called by the villagers 'Aslam crack.' He said Aslam was involved in various kidnapping and other crime cases registered with Vehari and Rajana police stations.

PAT WORKERS ROBBED: Robbers plundered cash and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from the activists of the Pakistani Awami Tehrik on the Gojra-Jhang Road on Friday morning.

Reports said the activists were making for Jhang from Samundri to canvass for Dr Tahirul Qadri's son. Near Chak 430-JB, eight armed men stopped their three buses and looted Rs150,000 in cash, eight mobile phone sets, wrist watches and other valuables from them. Police followed the robbers, but failed to catch them.
