ISLAMABAD, June 10: Experts at a seminar on Thursday suggested the Islamabad administration to replace paper mulberry trees, the main pollen allergent, with environment-friendly plants.

The seminar on Pollen Allergy: Development of Consensus Strategy for Management and Control was organized in collaboration with Pakistan Medical Research Council and Capital Development Authority (CDA) here at the Capital Hospital.

While inaugurating the seminar, Interior Minister Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat asked the private sector, non-governmental organizations and residents of the capital to come out with suggestions to keep the city free from pollen.

The purpose of the seminar was to develop consensus strategy for management and control of pollen allergy, that had made the lives of Islamabadites miserable especially in the spring season.

The minister asked the health experts to find a middle way which not only neutralize the health problem but also protect the greenery for which Islamabad was known throughout the world.

"It is not prudent to chop off all trees, which is the main source of attraction," he observed. The minister also reiterated the government's resolve to discourage developments meant to impinge upon the privacy of the residents and affect the beauty of the city.
