MMA insists on removal of governor

KARACHI, June 9: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), Sindh, has described 'forced resignation' of Sindh chief minister, instead of the removal of governor, as ridiculous, saying that the political instability prevailing in the province would deepen crises.

At a meeting here under the chairmanship of Sindh chief of the alliance Asadullah Bhutto on Wednesday, the situation was reviewed and a resolution was adopted to reject the 'change of face'.

The meeting held the governor responsible for growing incidents of terrorism and murder, deteriorating law and order situation, and an increase in crime rate. The resolution accused the governor of patronizing terrorists, murderers and extortionists, and deplored that a person having foreign nationality and sitting abroad was taking decisions about Sindh province.

"A few days ago, the Muttahida had been protesting against Sindh-related decisions being made by those sitting outside the province. And now those sitting in European countries are taking decisions about the fate of Karachi and Sindh," it noted.

The meeting also accused the MQM of being involved in state-terrorism, saying that the party was creating hurdles in registration of cases against those involved in the killings of 11 MMA activists in Karachi on May 12 whereas a false and fabricated case had been registered against Nazim of Liaquatabad Town.

The MMA resolution also demanded re-arrest of 43 wanted terrorists released on parole, registration of cases against killers of 11 MMA activists and withdrawal of false and fabricated case against the Nazim of Liaquatabad.

The meeting was attended, among others, by Maulana Abdul Karim Abid, Maulana Khan Muhammad Rabbani, MPAs Maulana Umer Sadiq, Nasrullah Shaji, Hameedullah Khan, Younus Barai, Hafiz Naeem, Abdul Rehman Rajput and Kulsoom Nizamani. - PPI
