KARACHI, May 27: Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammad Mahar on Thursday visited Jinnah, Liaquat National and Aga Khan hospitals to inquire about the well being of the victims of Wednesday's bomb blasts.

The chief minister met the blast victims, inquired about their condition and prayed for their early recovery. He lauded services of the injured police personnel and journalists and said that the province would not be left at the mercy of terrorists and they would be eliminated.

He said that all expenses pertaining to the treatment of injured people would be paid by Sindh government and provision of all facilities and medicines to them would be ensured.

Eleven injured, including nine policemen, were brought to the AKUH after the blasts, of whom, five patients were still under treatment there. Mr Mahar inquired about the health of a journalist, Nazruddin Siddiqi, at the LNH, while he visited Munir Ahmed, Razaq Cheepa, Munir Shaikh (TPO) and others at the Aga Khan Hospital.

The CM expressed satisfaction over the treatment facilities being provided to the injured and appreciated the doctors and hospital staff for their timely response to the emergency. CM's Special Assistant Humayun Khan, Dr Sultana Ibrahim and Dr Karim Mahar accompanied the CM during his visit.

IGP'S VISIT: Sindh police chief Syed Kamal Shah on Thursday visited Aga Khan and Jinnah hospitals and inquired about the health of police officials and other persons, who were injured in two bomb blasts outside a private school on Wednesday.

Earlier, on Wednesday night, Namaz-i-Janaza of Constable Jehangir, who lost his life in the blasts, was held at the Police Headquarter, Garden. On the occasion, the IGP said that Sindh government had announced a financial assistance of RsO.3 million for the family of deceased constable and Rs30,000 to Rs100,000 for the injured.

He said that heirs of the deceased constable would continue to receive the salary till the completion of his service period. He also announced to provide a job to a family member of the deceased on merit. -APP
