PESHAWAR, May 19: Students of Ayub Medical College, Abbottabad, on Tuesday demanded a judicial inquiry into baton-charge on their colleaguesby police and barring them from taking examinations for two years.
At a news conference at the press club here, they alleged that scores of students were baton-charged and kept in jail for about 20 days. "The college administration provoked the students.
They were demanding the solution of their problems through peaceful means but police resorted to terrorism against innocent students and beat them up badly on the administration's instructions," they said.
They said the students were put in jail and barred from taking examinations for two years, which would adversely affect their academic careers. They said the people responsible for the action against the students should be removed from service. They demanded that the government withdraw the ban imposed on them and hold a judicial inquiry into the incident.
