MITHI, May 20: A session of the Tharparkar District Council was adjourned for Tuesday without doing any business on Monday owing to the boycott of opposition members.
As soon as the session started at around 1:00pm, Abdul Raheem Khoso and Khizar Ali and Rahmatullah, stood at their seats and accused the ruling group of “step-motherly” behaviour with opposition members.
They alleged that the ruling group was sanctioning schemes for their favourites and deplored that no scheme proposed by opposition members had been sanctioned.
HUNGER STRIKE: Scores of candidates for the posts of primary teaches observed a token hunger strike here the other day against the non-issuance of appointment orders despite their passing the required tests.
Talking to newsmen, Mir Mohammad, Bherulal and others alleged that 140 candidates from Tharparkar District had passed the written and oral tests in May 2001 for the posts of primary teacher but the EDO, education, Tharparkar, had not issued their appointment orders despite the lapse of 12 months.
They alleged that instead of issuing their posting orders, the EDO had appointed scores of new primary teachers who were likely to be regularized in violation of prescribed rules and regulations.
They appealed to President Pervez Musharraf, Sindh governor, education minister and Tharparkar District Nazim to issue directives to the authorities concerned for issuance of their appointment orders.
