LAHORE, May 2: The provincial government is considering constitution of a single building control authority for the city district for the enforcement of uniform building bylaws.
District Nazim Mian Amer said this while discussing civic problems with union council Nazims and councillors here on Sunday.
He said the Housing and Physical Planning Department, the Lahore Development Authority and six town municipal administrations were enforcing their own building bylaws in the areas under their control at present which were not uniform.
He said constitution of the committee was being considered for the enforcement of uniform bylaws in different housing schemes and localities. It would also be responsible for the approval of site plans.
The Nazim said the LDA staff responsible for verification of deposit of fee for transfer of plots and completion certificates for construction in the housing schemes of the authority was being transferred from the LDA Plaza to the LDA Complex where the town planning offices were located to dispense with the delay.
A lot of time was wasted in verification of payments as the applications were received at the LDA Complex at present and were sent for verification to the LDA House.
He said talks were in progress with the Frontier Works Organization for the development of the LDA Avenue Housing Scheme. Tenders would be invited for the development of the scheme in case no agreement could be reached with it. Tenders had already been invited for the provision of sewerage and drainage facilities in the under-developed areas of the Sabzazar Housing Scheme.
