KARACHI, March 19: The session of Sindh Assembly was adjourned on Friday as a mark of respect for the slain PPP MPA Abdullah Murad.

The session was adjourned soon after leave was granted unanimously by the House to move adjournment motion on the murder of MPA Abdullah Murad.

The motion, which was moved by Leader of Opposition Nisar Ahmad Khuhro under Rule 71 and 72 of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh, earlier was held in order by the chair and asked the movers of identical motions to read out their adjournment motions.

They were Saifullah Dharejo, Humera Alvani, Sassi Palejo, Rafique Engineer, Advocate Hameedullah, Mir Babu Talpur, Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Fareeha Razzaq. Clubbing all the motions together, the speaker declared all motions in order in terms of the Rule 76 and after the leave was granted the session was adjourned till Saturday 9.30am.

Earlier, soon after Fateha was offered for those who passed away when the House was not in session, Imtiaz Ahmad Shaikh drew the attention of the chair towards the murder of Abdullah Murad.

He condemned the murder and suggested that as a mark of respect the session be adjourned till Saturday as the Senate session was adjourned as a mark of respect for Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani and Abdul Sattar Lalika.

Mr Khuhro contended that the session was requisitioned by the opposition parties and requested the chair that as a mark of respect, while suspending other business of the house, their adjournment motion be admitted. The speaker allowed him to move the motion.

The assembly proceedings commenced with the recitation from Holy Quran and followed by a Naat. The House offered Fateha for the departed souls including that of MPA Abdullah Murad, Abdul Sattar Lalika, wife of Pakistan Movement leader Mir Jafar Khan Jamali, eminent leader of freedom struggle Haji Abdul Hameed Jatoi, innocent girls Hajra and Sassi, Justice Zakir Ali Mirza others whose names were referred by various members from both the sides of the House.

The speaker announced the names for the panel of chairman for the current session. They are Mohammad Hussain, Rajweer Singh, Hameeda Khuhro and Jam Saifullah Dharejo.

All PPP MPAs were wearing black armbands while women MPAs were clad in black dress to register protest against the murder of their party MPA. On the vacant seat of Abdullah Murad, PPP members had placed his portrait.
