HYDERABAD, March 4: The Mehran Elementary and Secon-dary Teachers Association, Sindh, has decided to boycott SSC examinations to protest against the government apathy to resolve teachers' problems.

The executive committee of the association at its meeting held here on Thursday also decided to observe hunger strikes and held protest demonstrations at district headquarters of the interior of Sindh from March 9.

The meeting appointed a 10-member committee, headed by the association secretary-general Mohammad Ismail Leghari, to ensure the success of the boycott. It demanded that the government should accept the charter of demands of teachers.

The demands include restoration of 25 per cent quota in employment for teachers' children, end to appointment of teachers on contract basis, award of selection grade and move-over and confirmation of head teacher posts in primary schools. The Sindh Government Secondary Teachers Association has already announced the boycott of the examinations.

PRIMARY TEACHERS: The All Sindh Primary Teachers Association has decided to launch a protest movement against the Sindh education minister and in support of their demands from March 6.

In a joint statement issued here on Thursday, association president Mohammad Rafiq, Shaheen Akhtar, Jam Nazar Mohammad Sehto, Safdar Memon and other leaders said primary teachers would held protest demonstrations at taluka headquarters in interior Sindh on March 6 and observe six-hour hunger strikes at district headquarters on March 8. They said their protest would continue till the acceptance of their charter of demands.
