Foreign fighters a minority in Iraq: US

BAGHDAD, March 4: The number of foreigners involved in attacks in Iraq has increased significantly, but Iraqi guerillas remain the mainstay of the resistance, a senior US military official said on Thursday.

Brigadier General Martin Dempsey said that while foreign fighters posed the biggest threat in terms of the sophistication of their attacks, it was wrong to suggest Iraq was awash with foreign guerillas. -Reuters
