SRINAGAR, May 17: Two people were killed and 15 wounded on Friday when a bomb allegedly planted by mujahideen exploded in Srinagar, police said.

“Most probably the bomb (in Srinagar) was planted by militants using a boobytrapped bicycle,” a police official said. The blast also damaged some vehicles and shops.

Militants also fired at least five grenades at a security camp in the city, but caused no injuries or damage, police said.

A defence spokesman said six guerillas were killed elsewhere in two separate gunbattles with security forces. Police also found the beheaded body of a man kidnapped by gunmen on Thursday.—Reuters
