GAZA CITY, Feb 5: Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat urged Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Thursday not to limit himself to a Gaza settlement evacuation plan but also withdraw from the West Bank.

"The withdrawal from Gaza must absolutely be accompanied by a withdrawal from the West Bank and by an (army) redeployment to the pre-Sept 28, 2000, borders," before the Palestinian intifada began, said Yasser Arafat, addressing a meeting of the national security council.

The council also discussed "following up on the Gaza incident during which three Americans were killed. -AFP
