TIKRIT, Feb 1: A US soldier was killed on Sunday and 12 others wounded when an American base was pounded by rockets near Balad, north of Baghdad, a US military spokesman said.

Seven rockets were fired on the base at around 1:15 pm, another military spokesman said in Baghdad, leaving two of the wounded in a serious condition and six stable. -AFP
