LAHORE, Jan 20: Changes if any in the Pakistan cricket team management or selection committee will be made within 10 days, PCB chairman Mr Shaharyar M. Khan told journalists on Tuesday. He said performance of captain, coach, manager and selection committee would be reviewed before making any change. Mr Shaharyar denied differences with chief selector Aamir Sohail and said the decision to relieve or retain him would also be taken on merit.

He expressed his surprise when asked about rumours of Aamir's sacking saying it was the press which asked for a change. "And if we decide not to change any official, the press starts a campaign to make the change."

PCB chief denied appointment of Wasim Bari as new chief. "Many names are being considered and the most suitable will be picked," he added. He admitted that the newly formed selection committee for juniors headed by Iqbal Qasim, needed one more member from Punjab.

"I personally feel the load in Punjab is more than any other province and only one member (Azhar Khan) is not enough to cope with the pressure," he continued.

Regarding the Pakistan-India series, PCB boss said Indian security team would reach in a week to personally see the arrangements. Mr Shaharyar categorically declared matches would be played in Karachi and Peshawar adding that the three-day game would not be held in two big cities.

The three-day match is scheduled to be held at Karachi, but the BCCI was not ready for a longer stay in that city, a proposed venue of the first Test. Asked if he had not contradicted his own policy by appointing Riaz Mahmood as PCB marketing head without advertising the post, Shaharyar said he (Riaz) was not appointed as a regular employee and his services were hired only as a consultant for Pakistan-India series.

He said the PCB was willing to hire the services of Waqar Younis for Shabbir Ahmad to rectify the pacer's action and disclosed Waqar was also interested to offer his services to the PCB as a bowling coach. He regretted that PCB former marketing director Zahid Bashir had challenged his sacking in a court of law.
