NEW YORK, Jan 12: The seedings of men's Apawamis Squash Open fell apart as first, third, fourth, fifth and eighth ranked players crashed out in the first round 2004 PSA Tour competition.
Australia's top seeded World No8 Anthony Ricketts was beaten in quarterfinals by England's Mark Chaloner, seventh seed, 15-14 10-15 15-6 15-9.
Chaloner next faces Australian qualifier Dan Jenson, who defeated fellow qualifier Jan Koukal, from the Czech Republic, 15-11 15-3 15-3.
Unseeded Canadian Shahier Razik followed his dismissal of fourth seed Graham Ryding in first round by beating sixth-seeded Welshman Alex Gough 15-10 15-12 15-12.
Also in first round Scotland's Martin Heath fell in four games to Jenson, Australia's Paul Price lost to Rodney Durbach of South Africa, and Egypt's Mohammed Abbas lost to Joukal.
