QUETTA, Jan 12: The Balochistan cabinet has vowed to maintain writ of the government and provide full protection to the life and property of the people in the province.

The cabinet, which met here on Monday, presided over by Chief Minister Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf, reviewed the law and order situation with a special reference to bomb blasts and rocket attacks in Quetta and other areas of the province.

The meeting observed that subversive activities bomb blasts, rocket attacks, kidnapping for ransom and highway robberies were a conspiracy against the provincial government aimed to destabilize the elected government.

Chief Minister Jam Yousuf said on the occasion that his government would not tolerate such activities in any area of the province and was taking strict measures to deal with the criminals involved in such activities.

He announced to setting up of a sub-committee of the provincial cabinet that would review the law and order situation regularly and remain in contact with politicians, tribal elders, police and other law enforcing institutions.

The sub-committee would submit its suggestions and recommendations to the government for improving law and order in the province. The chief minister urged all coalition partners of the provincial government and officials concerned to come forward and play their due role for maintaining peace in Balochistan.

Senior Minister Maulana Abdul Wasay of the MMA and Finance Minister Syed Ehsan Shah of the National Alliance also spoke on the occasion and reposed full confidence in the leadership of Jam Mir Mohammad Yousuf.

Boy dies: A 12-year-old Afghan boy, Hayatullah, who was injured in a bomb blast on the Munir Mengal Road in Satellite Town on Saturday, succumbed to his injuries at the civil hospital on Sunday.

The police handed over the body to the boy's relatives. Another bomb had exploded near the forest department office on the Sabzal Road on Saturday. No damage was caused.
